Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within Adoption Now for a Mentoring Co-ordinator.  You will be responsible for recruiting and training experienced adopters to become mentors to adopters at different points in their journey.  You will support existing mentors in their role, ensure new referrals are allocated and process the payments to mentors monthly.  Adoption Now’s mentor scheme has been extremely well received by prospective and new adopters in particular, as well as some experiencing difficulties further down the line.  It allows the real experts (those who have lived experience) to support their peers and pass on learnt knowledge and ideas. This can at times be emotionally challenging for the mentors and the co-ordinator role is vital in ensuring that they are well supported and are provided time and space to reflect on the work they are doing and continue to learn.

You would be joining a dedicated and passionate service in Adoption Now with opportunities to grow, develop and learn through professional relationships and specialist training, as well as opportunities to share your own knowledge, skills and expertise with others.  Adoption Now is the adoption agency for 6 local authorities and is hosted by Bolton Local Authority therefore you will also have all the advantages of being a local authority employee.

About You

You have lived experience of having adopted a child or children.  You will have the skills to balance the administrative elements of this role alongside the training and support elements.  You will be confident in working independently whilst able also to engage with colleagues as part of a team and whole service approach.
