Whether you’re on the frontline emptying bins, providing care for residents, working behind the scenes in legal or planning, or marrying people and registering babies in our beautiful town halls, it takes a broad variety of skills to keep the Wigan Borough moving. With exciting roles in health care, education, leisure, and the community, we have a position for you! Booking is not required; simply come to one of our events to find job opportunities with Wigan Council, Ethical Homecare, Early Years & Childcare, Childrens residential, school settings and many more.

We are pleased to announce our NHS partners will also be attending the events , here is an example of some of the roles we will be showcasing around Health and Care :

Care to join us Support Worker roles - We're looking for enthusiastic, caring and friendly individuals to join our care teams. You’ll either work directly for the council or for our trusted partners who provide care services. You’ll be part of buzzy, busy teams caring for and supporting people to live their happiest life possible.

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS  Foundation Trust - Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 6,400 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 160 locations. We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the northwest of England and beyond. Our people enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.

Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh - Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are the proud providers of acute hospital and community services to the people of the Wigan Borough and surrounding areas. At WWL, we value our staff believing that ‘happy staff, makes for happy patients’. We have a recognised track record in staff engagement, and living our values ‘the WWL Way’. WWL are committed to placing the patient at the heart of everything we do, and in the provision of safe, effective care that acknowledges and ensures dignity. With this in mind we are seeking to recruit people who share our values and beliefs.

Do you want to make a difference in your community? Take a look at some exciting ways you can help.

Wigan Governor Services – Are you interested in joining (possibly) the largest volunteer workforce in the country? There are over 1200 School Governors and Trustees across Wigan borough, however we have around 250 vacancies. Want to make a difference in your community (supporting the children and young people of Wigan), whilst developing your own professional skills? By volunteering as a school governor, you can do both. School governors play an important role in leading our schools. They set the strategic vision and direction, approve the budget and hold the senior leadership team to account. Anyone over the age of 18 can be a governor and you don’t need to be a parent. We are looking to support our Governing Boards by recruiting Governors.

Additionally, at each event, at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., our Adult Learning Team and Tech Mates volunteers will be holding two interactive information sessions to offer guidance on where to find free adult learning courses and what technical support we can provide. If you are unable to attend those times, don't worry—these teams will be available throughout the events.
