There are many great reasons to come and work for Trafford, and here is just snapshot of the benefits on offer.

Annual Leave

Working at Trafford you’ll receive a leave entitlement of 25 days plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days after 5 years continuous Local Government service.

Each year, employees may request to buy additional leave of between 1 and 10 days, the cost of which is then spread over the 12 months of the leave year.

To support you with family related matters or emergencies we also offer various types of support in the form of parental leave, maternity, adoption & paternity leave and special leave - these schemes are also enhanced to support caring for dependants.

Flexible and Agile Working

A flexible working hours scheme is currently in place for certain employees. Working flexibly is key to efficient and effective service delivery, it also enables individuals to achieve a healthy balance between work and family life.

We also offer agile working, empowering our staff to work where and how they choose with maximum flexibility and minimum constraints – agile working can offer many benefits to an individual, their service and the customers they serve.

Health & Wellbeing

Our Health & Wellbeing strategy focuses on providing health and wellbeing support, interventions and healthy workspaces for our employees, as well as encouraging and supporting a healthy work-life balance.

The breadth of the strategy encourages healthy lifestyles, focuses on musculoskeletal health, occupational health & safety and mental wellbeing support. The types of activities we host and facilitate in support of this strategy include drop-in sessions from Guide Dogs, smoking cessation workshops, yoga sessions, head massage and Health & Wellbeing days, along with the launch of our first ever network of Mental Health First Aiders.

Trafford operates a subsidised* parking scheme during the working week for employees based across the borough; the scheme is opened up twice a year in April and October to existing employees who would like to join or leave, and new employees are invited to join the scheme as part of the recruitment process.
*In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, these fees have temporarily been waived until 1st September.

We are immensely proud of our staff and want to make sure that we celebrate, reward and publicise the achievements and commitment of our workforce; we have several different schemes in place to do just this.

To celebrate the success of some of our individual employees and teams across the breadth of the authority, each year we host the Employee Recognition Awards (ERAs) which see nominees and category winners celebrated for their contribution to the authority in awards such as Values in Practice, Employee, Manager & Team of the Year, Making a Difference and Aspiring Leader to name but a few.
We also celebrate the success of our employees with an annual Long Service Award ceremony, marking the commitment of staff reaching 25yrs service with Trafford.

As an authority we are proud to have won various awards over the years in recognition of our achievements – find out more about our achievements here.

Employees of Trafford can benefit from our car lease scheme which offers the ability to have a new car of your choice at a very competitive price. The scheme is offered on a 2 or 3yr basis dependent on your individual application, and is paid for as a salary sacrifice.
