Citywide Services are a key component of the Operational Division within the Place Directorate which has responsibility for key frontline services across the city.
Citywide Services provide catering and cleaning services across many of the schools in Salford as well as some corporate buildings, such as offices. Our customers include headteachers, office workers, and building managers. We currently employ over 600 permanent and casual staff.
In the current climate, it’s more important than ever that our schools and corporate buildings are in good condition and that our school-age children are served meals prepared in a safe environment. That’s where you come in.
About you
You will have great attention to detail and the adaptability required to perform a varied role. You will have a flexible approach, will embrace learning and adapt easily to change. You will be highly organised and able to work to deadlines.
We are looking for hard working, reliable individuals who can work in a team. Your approach will reflect our council’s values, and they will be central to the way in which you behave with colleagues, customers, and partners. Previous experience will be an advantage, but not essential as training will be provided.

Cleaner roles – 1A, £10.92 per hour
As a Cleaner, you will be required to work at various buildings across your area. Main duties include hoovering, mopping, cleaning toilets, spraying and sanitizing touch points. Cleaners will be required for any hours between 7am and 6pm throughout the week.
General Assistant roles – 1B, £11.12 per hour
As a General Assistant, you will be working alongside the Cook Supervisor and General Assistants in a kitchen environment. Preparing meals for the children, serving, washing-up and keeping the kitchen sanitised. General Assistants will usually be required for any hours between 10am and 1pm, Monday to Friday.
