We are recruiting now for permanent career opportunities in Children’s Services, to contribute to making a real difference to the safety and well-being of children.
We are keen to recruit experienced social workers but also have regular opportunities for newly qualified workers.
You will manage and conduct a range of assessments, planning and reviewing cases across a broad variety of practice. You will be a compassionate and dedicated professional with HCPC registration and with children’s social care experience.
You will have knowledge of children’s services legislative frameworks and legal proceedings and can make complex information accessible for every audience.
As an Advanced Practitioner you will identify, assess, plan, implement and review the care needs of our most complex children and families. You’ll provide a safe, child-focused service using the Signs of Safety framework and make sure we achieve outstanding personal development for every child in our care. And when it comes to your team, you will develop the leaders of the future – improving their practice and inspiring them on their own social work journey.
You will lead the strategic development and operational delivery of our resources for children, young people and families who are receiving a specialist service.
The role will also support us to deliver on our ambition to adopt and adapt a flexible edge of care and residential service based on our collaboration with North Yorkshire’s No Wrong Door and expand our successful mockingbird programme.
Here at Wigan Council, we believe that children, young people and families deserve outstanding social care. The Wigan Deal is the foundation for our high aspirations for children and young people and we’ve made great strides, but we want to achieve much more. That’s why we are rolling out the Signs of Safety framework across all service areas, expanding our successful Mockingbird programme and building a no wrong door service which keeps our looked after children close to home.
