greater.jobs is a careers website and jobs board operated by a collaboration of public sector employers led by Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council.  Most of the employers in the collaboration also share an on-line recruitment system called an Applicant Tracking System (ATS).  The list of employers who use greater.jobs, and the recruitment system they use can be found on the following page

greater.jobs also publishes job adverts on behalf of other employers, in this case, the advert will link back to that employer’s website for applications.

All our external vacancies are listed on our website at www.greater.jobs.

If you are employed by one of the collaborating employers, you can find the list of their internal vacancies on their internal jobs board.

Select 'Job Alerts' from the menu.  Enter your name, email address and alert criteria and select register. You will receive an email asking you to verify your details, and your alert will be set up. You can set up as many job alerts as you like.

Some of the recruitment systems will have a talent pool where you can register to be notified of vacancies that meet your search criteria and be invited to apply.  Each application system will explain how you can do this.

The majority of jobs on this website allow you to apply online and so a job pack is not required. If the post does not allow you to apply on line, there will be a link to an application form or employer’s website to find the application form.  If you need further assistance, contact details for each employer are available.

The closing date for each vacancy is shown on the website. As long as your form is submitted by that date you can take as long as you wish to complete the form. There may also be a closing time.

Any applications that are made online are submitted straight into the employer’s recruitment system which also allows you to track the progress of your application. If the application is not on line, you can find information about returning application forms in the advert or in the application pack.
