The Role

Are you a senior ICT professional looking to make your next career move and seeking a role where you can show case your ability while significantly contributing to Public Sector service delivery? Are you passionate about running excellent day-to-day ICT service while equally wanting to transform Technology over the longer term? Do you thrive on putting the customer first?

It’s an exciting time in Bolton Council, with a well-established Digital Strategy, and a Technology service that has recently set out on a new set of service arrangements supplied by Agilisys. The Head of Technology is a senior role within the Council, and one that is supported by a team that has been expanded over the last couple of years. We have an exciting programme of work to help bring into play new Digital tools at the Council, and to underpin the efficiency and quality of service delivery to residents and businesses across the borough. It is a significant time of transformation, not least of which includes a major programme to shift the Council to a Cloud-first organisation, operating on a new network, and with a view to making some significant shifts forward in Technology strategy. To achieve the change agenda while ensuring great day-to-day service delivery we’re looking for a Head of Technology to take overall charge of ICT, end-to-end, leading a dynamic team, overseeing core third party delivery, and liaising with colleagues from across the Council to achieve the best outcomes.

This is a senior role based in the Transformation team, reporting to the Chief Officer for this area.

About You

You may come from either a public or private sector background, but either way you will have amassed experience at running a complex and voluminous technology-based service across a large organisation. You are likely to be driven, with a passion to achieve strategic improvements coupled with the ability to oversee your team’s delivery on strong day-to-day service.

You will need:

Proven success in leading Technology, end-to-end, from strategy and enterprise architecture to service delivery, operations, and implementation of Technology solutions to achieve Digital projects.
Experience of leading and developing a Technology organisation within a large, complex and cross-functional organisation.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, at all levels of the organisation including C-suite.
A natural gift to engage and inspire your team.
A genuine desire and impulse to understand and fulfil customer requirements.
Team spirit, tenacity, and focus on delivery!
