Your Role

  • To assess adults over the age of 18 under The Care Act.
  • To provide an assessment, support planning, monitoring and reviewing (face to face and via telephone) and work with people and / or carers to ensure that:
  • Vulnerable people are safeguarded and supported in managing risk.
  • To support people to identify their outcomes.
  • To work in a strengths-based way.
  • To carry out annual reviews.
  • To take part in a duty rota.
  • To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • To undertake training and take responsibility for self-development by identifying learning and development needs.
  • There is potential for Social Care Officers to apply and undertake the Social Work degree Apprenticeship. You would need to have Maths and English at GSCE Grade C or be willing to work towards this before you qualify as a Social Worker.
  • To work positively and inclusively with colleagues and customers so that the Council provides a workplace to deliver a service that does not discriminate against people on the grounds of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage, civil partnership, pregnancy, maternity, race, religion, belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
  • To fulfil personal requirements, where appropriate, with regards to Council policies and procedures, standards of attendance, health, safety and welfare, customer care, emergency, evacuation, security and promotion of the Council’s priorities.
  • The post holder must hold a current valid driving licence
  • Understands and actively supports Stockport Councils diversity and equality policy.

  • A willingness to be flexible in a changing environment

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Social Care Officer who wants to make a difference to the residents of Stockport lives. We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively, think creatively and has a good level of communication and written skills.

We support our Social Care Officers with regular supervision, we will carry out a Professional Development plan with you. We can support Social Care Officers to undertake the Social Work Apprenticeship if they are interested.
