An opportunity has arisen on a temporary basis until 1 February 2026 to join the Shared Revenues and Benefits Service as a Senior Revenues Officer, supporting the administration, collection, and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates for both Blackpool and Fylde Councils. This is a varied and rewarding role in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment where accuracy, empathy, and professionalism are key.
As part of the Revenues team, you will be responsible for managing complex and escalated enquiries, supporting staff with technical advice and training, and ensuring that all work is completed in line with legislation and service standards. You will also assist in the development of the team, contribute to service planning, and deputise for the Senior Revenues Team Manager when required.
The role involves regular contact with customers, including those experiencing financial hardship or bereavement, so the ability to remain calm, compassionate, and solution-focused is essential. You will also liaise with external agencies, prepare reports, and support the delivery of high-quality services across the team.
To be successful, you will need substantial knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates legislation, strong ICT skills, and experience in a customer-facing and office-based environment. Supervisory experience and the ability to manage your own workload are also essential.
This is a great opportunity to develop your career in local government and make a real difference to the communities we serve.
