Contract: Temporary (Maternity Cover 31/08/2024)

Hours: 30 hours per week, Term Time only

Salary: SVT Grade C SCP5-6 £21,575 - £21,968 per annum, pro rata

Devonshire Primary Academy wish to appoint a Teaching Assistant at Level 2.  This is a temporary contract working in Year 4 to cover a maternity leave from 27/11/2023 until 31/08/2024.  The post is term time only, 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be passionate, dedicated, innovative and want to make a difference to the lives of our children.  They must have relevant school experience and be able to demonstrate an understanding of children’s educational development throughout the relevant age range.  We would be interested to hear of any particular curricular strengths or areas of expertise/interest.  The role may also ask that welfare duties are covered at lunch time, assisting in the dinner hall and outside on the playground.

At Devonshire Primary Academy, open methods of communication are well-established so that a shared responsibility for the development of the academy are much in evidence.  The successful candidate will be joining an imaginative and mutually-supportive team where the creative Teaching Assistant can contribute to the academy as a whole.  The successful candidate will:

  • Have an understanding of teaching and learning;
  • Have high personal and professional standards;
  • Have high expectations of themselves;
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Be enthusiastic and hardworking;
  • Provide a high standard of social, emotional and intellectual care for young children;
  • Enjoy working closely and cooperatively as part of a team;
  • Provide support to the class teacher and assist in implementing the daily routine of a class; and
  • Be able to implement activities for children as required under the direction of the class teacher.
