Who are we?

We are Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), and we look after everything to do with transport in the Greater Manchester region. We are currently going through an exciting period of change to deliver The Bee Network – Greater Manchester’s one-stop shop for all journeys using public transport. We want to find some great people to join us on this journey, which is why we have a mix of upcoming opportunities across our network of Bus Stations and Interchanges.

What are we looking for?

We are holding open days in the South Manchester area to find some amazing people to work with us at our Bus Stations and Interchanges. You’ll be able to meet and chat with people from our team and find out more about what it’s like working for TfGM.

You’ll have excellent communication skills and a willingness to help people, with the ability to handle several different tasks at the same time. You’ll be a strong team player with the ability to work effectively on your own too. Formal qualifications are not essential we are looking for transferable skills and experience.

 

Where and when are our Open Days?

Our open days will take place on Wednesday 11th October and Thursday 19th October from 9am – 5pm. The details of the locations can be found below.  When you arrive, you’ll have an informal chat with members of our team where we can find out more about you, and you can find out more about us. We’ll discuss what roles you’re interested in and where, and how we can help you start your career with TfGM.  We then may invite you to a formal interview to allow you to demonstrate your skills and experience in relation to the roles in more detail!

  • Wednesday 11th October - The Works Manchester Moss Side, 130 Alexandra Road South, M16 7WD.
  •  Thursday 19th October - Gorton Hub, 27 Garratt Way, M18 8HE.

 

What are our Roles?

We have a range of roles in our Bus Stations and Interchanges, both full time and part time. Below is a little bit about each one.

Bus Station Supervisors (salary starts at £27,841 plus 15% shift allowance)

You’ll be responsible for the safe operation of the bus station and the safety of all people using the site.  You will also be responsible for ensuring that all the required daily tasks and any maintenance works (including conducting regular tests of various pieces of equipment and accurately recording the results) are completed to the required standard.

Travelshop Assistants (salary starts at £26,029 plus 12.5% shift allowance)

You’ll be the first point of contact for all customer enquiries.  You will ensure an excellent standard of customer service is provided during every customer interaction.  This includes the sale of travel products during the operation of the bus station.

  

Bus Station Assistants (salary starts at £22,290 plus 15% shift allowance)

Your main role will be keeping your bus stations clean and safe by always providing a high visibility presence to users during operational hours.  This will include cleaning of all the facility, janitorial duties, supporting other colleagues and customer service.

  

Utility Officers (salary starts at £27,841 plus 15% shift allowance)

You will cover all three roles on the bus station providing spare cover for each.  This role is ideal if you are flexible, enjoy variety in your work and you have a mixture of skills and experience.  In this role you will cover for the Bus Station Supervisors, Bus Station Assistants and Travelshop Assistants holidays, training, and other absences.
