Fixed term training contract for 24 months
Average 36 Hours per week, working annualised hours of 41.5 hours per week in summer and 28.5 hours per week in winter
<18 = £8174.52 per annum
18 – 20 year olds = £11,557.08 per annum
21 or over = £14,469.84 per annum
25 and over = £15,428.23 per annum in the first year of your apprenticeship
Environmental Services is dedicated to providing high quality services to meet the needs of our customers in relation to parks and grounds maintenance services.
We are seeking to recruit 3 Modern Apprentices to the Grounds Maintenance Team on a 24 month training contract, carrying out routine and seasonal horticultural and grounds maintenance works in various parks and sites across the Borough.
To meet this aim we are looking for a proactive, well-motivated individual that will be flexible, adaptable and able to work under pressure to deadlines.
The successful candidate will receive on the job training and will complete any relevant training required. Working alongside experienced staff you will build up knowledge and develop many transferable skills.

Please note this role is only open to applicants who:
- are not studying for or hold an NVQ or any qualification at any level in the field applied for, or
- are not studying for or hold a degree qualification, or equivalent level of qualification.
In the first instance should your application be successful you will be invited to take a series of tests which will enable us to assess your ability to complete an apprenticeship. These tests will be carried out by Tameside College and you will receive an email from the Council with further information regarding the test time/date. Please note that if you do not attend the testing date or if you attend and do not pass the testing stage your application will not proceed onto the next stage of the recruitment process.
