Tameside Council

Risk, Insurance and Information Governance Officer
36 hours per week, Permanent
Grade G Salary £26,999 - £31,371

The Risk Management and Audit Service is part of the Finance Directorate at Tameside Council. We have a single Director of Finance and Chief Executive/Operating Officer across the Council and the Tameside and Glossop CCG. We are considered to be a “trail blazer” both nationally and within GM and are at the forefront of developing and implementing new and innovative place based solutions.

The role is based in the Council’s new offices, Tameside One, located in Ashton-under-Lyne, offering state of the art hot-desking facilities.

You will be responsible for delivering under the direction of the Risk, Insurance and Information Governance Manager an information governance and assurance role that ensures the Council is compliant with all data protection legislation. The need to investigate possible information incidents form part of the role and being a strong communicator with the ability to adapt delivery to a multitude of audiences is essential.

Whilst the job description is generic providing full coverage across all disciplines delivered by the team, we are seeking a dynamic individual with commitment, enthusiasm and a ‘can do attitude’ with experience of working with data protection, information governance and/or information security to complement the existing member of the team.

Experience of preparing and delivering training courses to a wide variety of audiences, advising on DPIAs, undertaking investigations into incidents and undertaking compliance audits is also needed.

To succeed you must also be flexible, adaptable, innovative, have an enquiring mind, demonstrate initiative, have strong ICT skills, have meticulous attention to detail and be able to work under pressure and to deadlines.

This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and will involve travelling within Tameside and possibly within Greater Manchester.

Selection Tests will be held on 9 March 2020 and Interviews will be held on 17 March 2020.

Previous applicants need not apply.
