NAFN is a national organisation hosted by Tameside Council. It is one of the UK’s largest shared services providing data, intelligence and best practice to support criminal and fraud investigations across the public sector, including local authorities and other government agencies. Working closely with Central and Local Government and third party data providers we continue to develop and improve our services to 500 organisations with almost 15,000 users. These numbers are expected to increase as we move forward.
The NAFN Executive Board has agreed to establish a new team to deliver an Enhanced Intelligence Service (EIS) to members for a trial period of two years. Using relevant business tools, the team will provide a comprehensive intelligence gathering service generating subject profiles. Based on this analysis, the team will advise members on how best to pursue their criminal investigations to achieve successful outcomes.
About the Role:
The Intelligence Manager will work closely with the Head of Service and other members of the NAFN Leadership Team to recruit other members of the EIS Team, introduce an enquiry triage system and new business processes to manage intelligence gathering, evaluation, analysis and dissemination. The intention is to formally review the service in two years with a view to establishing a permanent team.
As the NAFN Intelligence Manager, you will be responsible for the line management of a team of Criminal Analysts (x2) and Criminal Analyst Support Officer. You must have strong analytical experience with the ability to develop, guide, and provide critical feedback to improving performance and analytical standards in the organisation. You will need to negotiate work and timescales, juggling demand from a broad range of members. There will be competing priorities and you will need to ensure the quality of analysis remains high; delivering products that add value. You will identify threat areas and advise on decision-making processes at the highest levels.

This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location and from home. Working arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate and subject to regular review.
