Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) is one of the largest Fire and Rescue Services in the UK. With a large and diverse population, Greater Manchester is the second largest economy in the UK, containing the largest airport and media hub outside of London, a complex network of motorways, large industrial, heritage and protected wildlife sites, major businesses, and millions of homes.

Every role within the Service plays a role in helping us fulfil our aim to save, protect and improve the lives of people in Greater Manchester. Roles across all areas of the organisation including, IT, finance, administration, catering, technical, People Services, Community and Business Safety, and front line firefighting posts all have a key contribution to the Service we provide to our diverse communities.
Our Head Office is based in Swinton and we have 41 fire stations across Greater Manchester. Our new, state of the art, operational training centre and community safety facility is in Bury. As well as providing realistic training conditions, the site has a community facility that featuring an interactive and immersive learning area where local people and school children, in particular, come to learn how to protect themselves against fire and other dangers.
