About the Role

Foster Carers (for different fostering schemes)
£305 - £764 per week tax free (depending on the age of the children)

Stockport Council’s Fostering Team is looking to recruit foster carers for a wide variety of different fostering schemes who can:

1. offer short, respite or long term fostering homes for local Stockport children and young people aged 0 - 18 years
2. care for sibling groups of 2 or more children
3. provide specialist care to our complex children and children with additional needs

We are actively recruiting foster carers who can care for children aged between 0 - 18 years old who are in short term and long term fostering homes. We are looking for local foster carers who can look after a diverse range of children and young people, particularly for older children and teenagers, brothers and sisters and children with additional needs. We are looking for people who can demonstrate they have the time, availability, space, a spare room and empathy to offer their home to a local Stockport child or young person.

Our foster carers must be willing to work with a wide age range of children and our foster carers need to be able to show commitment, understanding and compassion to children during difficult times and help them to thrive.

We also welcome applications from anyone who is able to care for sibling groups of 2 or more children as, wherever possible, we aim to place siblings together in order to maintain the bond and promote attachment that siblings have to one another.

We provide our foster carers with an excellent training, support and tax free financial package and benefits and we will help guide them through the assessment process and work with them as a team to ensure the needs of the foster carer and the child are met.

We offer local discounts to our foster carers, tax advice and local support groups where our carers receive peer-to-peer support from other foster carers in Stockport.

If you would like to find out more about the role and how to enquire about being a foster carer with Stockport Council then please email [email protected] or call 0161 474 3400.

No need to send a CV as we will discuss this career opportunity with you during an informal discussion with our qualified social workers.

The successful applicant’s appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
