Your Role

The Adult social care Mental health service is looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Team lead who has experience of working with adults in line with the Care Act to promote and enhance their well-being in a busy mental health social work team.

The post holder will provide leadership at an appropriate level to establish and maintain a strength-based culture of teamwork, achievement, accountability, and outcome focused. This includes providing supervision and support to the staff team as well as contributing to the ever-developing service. This will include recruitment, managing sickness and authorising budgets.

About You

We are looking for somebody who:

  • Is a qualified and experienced social worker and is registered with social work England.
  • Has or is committed to work towards a post qualifying qualification such as Approved Mental Health professional (AMHP) or Best interest assessor (BIA) and significant post qualifying experience.
  • Is a team player, who has experience and drive in developing and supporting, newly qualified and experienced social workers to achieve the best they can.
  • Has good time management and organisation skills.
  • Has experience of supervising social workers within a complex mental health social work team.
  • Has ambition and creativity, we are a developing service, and we are looking for individuals who can be creative and good at problem solving.
  • Has the ability to understand budgets and the impacts.
  • Has the experience of working with and managing high levels of risk within an area of service assessing and supporting individuals with complex needs and severe and enduring mental health.
  • Is passionate about supporting social workers to meet the best outcomes for the people of Stockport.
  • Has experience in recruitment, managing sickness, allocations across the service and authorising budgets.

About Us

The Adult social care mental health team is a specialist area in which we strive to ensure that individuals who experience severe and enduring mental health conditions are enabled and can meet outcomes to suit and benefit their recovery. Our team is based across the Meadows and Baker Street and cover the whole borough of Stockport and out of area when necessary under S117 of the Mental Health Act.

We work within the Care Act to support individuals to lead Happier and Healthier lives through wellbeing and prevention agenda. We also look to ensure the safety of individuals under S42 Safeguarding under the Care Act, we do this again with the person at the centre of this, making safeguarding personal. We work collaboratively with our partner agencies, namely the community mental health teams and are committed to the council’s vision off one heart, one mind, one Stockport and work to an ethos of promoting the glorious ordinary lives of our residents.
