Funded by Arts Council England, LeftCoast delivers Blackpool’s Creative People and Places programme which encourages more people to not only take part in the creativity and culture available in Blackpool, but actively create new works of art that link them to their streets, neighbours and environment.
At LeftCoast, we co-create with residents a wide range of quality arts projects from large-scale spectacle to smaller, bespoke projects in intimate community spaces.
We support all the people involved with our projects to develop a greater sense of well-being and connectivity to the places where they live. We work with individuals, community groups and organisations to bring about positive change and enhance civic life in local areas through artistic activity.
To help us do this, we are looking for two highly motivated Community Producers to help us deliver a dynamic programme. This will include working with local residents, commissioned artists and neighbourhood partners.
This brief is for two Community Producers who will work with our Creative Producer and Artistic Director to deliver our programme. This role has gone through a series of transformations as our practice has evolved and predecessors have worked on exciting projects, which include:
* Wash Your Words: www.ribaj.com/buildings/macewen-award-2023-commended-wash-your-words/
* The Alternative Public Square: https://leftcoast.org.uk/revoes-alternative-public-square-blackpool/
* The Beach Ship: https://leftcoast.org.uk/futurefarmers/
We are about to embark of our fifth funding phase, in the twelfth year of LeftCoast. The structure of our programme has organically evolved in response to collaborations with residents and community partners.
Where once our programme was structured with a hyper local neighbourhood focus that reflected resident's preferences to stay in their own neighbourhoods, we now see far more movement and collaboration between residents. We see commonalities in interests, ideas, concerns. So while we still retain a local neighbourhood presence as the foundation of our programme, we have structured our next phase around themes rather than geographical locations. This is how our creative rights strategy emerged.
All areas of our programme now fall under one of four rights:
The right to beauty
The right to grow
The right to space
The right to wonder
We are looking for Producers who are excited about exploring this new concept with us. You will need to be an energetic and communicative individual who is well organised and passionate about working collaboratively with lots of different people from all walks of life.
The Community Producers will be an integral part of our LeftCoast team and be supported to employ arts and culture as a means to engage with a wide range of people across Blackpool neighbourhoods relative to our programme.
