Blackpool Family Safeguarding 0 – Infant team

We are looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic social worker to the team. The team is an exciting and specialist new team, created to implement the principles of Born Into Care, supporting children remaining in the care of their family wherever possible, working intensively with our multi-agency partners when doing so. This social work team completes pre-birth assessments for all single children (not part of a sibling group) and single children under the age of 12 months; therefore spanning assessments, child in need, child protection, pre-proceedings and care proceedings.

You will have knowledge and experience of undertaking pre-birth assessments, child protection, complex child in need and PLO/Pre proceedings.  You will be able to demonstrate a good quality of work including court statements, assessments etc. and will be able to support the team manager with mentoring and coaching those less experienced members of your team.   You will be enthusiastic, passionate and committed to improving the lived experience of our children.  You will be a role model for the less experienced staff members demonstrating true professionalism in all you do.  This will include providing learning opportunities, reflection and modelling.  We are striving to improve our quality and performance and you will lead by example.

Our families, children and young people are at the heart of everything we do in Children’s Services.

In Blackpool we believe Children can achieve better outcomes when they are supported by their families and community and as a result we:

-    Work ‘with’ families, not ‘do things to them’.
-    Are child focused but support the whole family via our strengths-based approach.
-    Build and nurture trusted relationships with children and families.
-    Be consistent and do what we say we will do.
-    Ensure that when formal intervention is required, we manage it at the lowest possible level.
-    Support our workforce and challenge them to deliver a great service.
-    Encourage our families and communities to be aspirational for themselves and each other.
-    Respect difference in families and communities and ensure we are inclusive.
-    Be transparent and objective in our decision making.
-    Learn from what works and what does not work and keep developing our services to build on the things that deliver the right outcomes.

If you like the sound of this and are passionate, dedicated to making a change and ready for a challenge – you could be the candidate we are looking for.

-    Easy and regular access to the leadership team and principal social worker
