BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance - this post is subject to BPSS checks. We’re looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with strong numeracy and literacy skills to take on the pivotal role of Disabled Facilities Grant Co-ordinator within our technical team.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital service that supports Manchester’s disabled and older residents by enabling them to live independently and safely in their own homes. From complex equipment and major adaptations to Moving and Handling risk assessments and Blue Badge provision, our team delivers life-enhancing solutions every day.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading a team of Visiting Officers who guide applicants through the grant process and offer welfare rights advice.
  • Managing approvals and payments for Disabled Facilities Grants and coordinating orders for essential adaptations.
  • Overseeing the administrative function for both minor and major adaptations, including lift servicing and maintenance.
  • Co-managing the Business Support function to ensure seamless service delivery across MEAP.

What we’re looking for:
  • Experience in an advisory or visiting role, with up-to-date knowledge of the Benefits system.
  • Strong financial acumen, including management accounting (forecasts, budget comparisons, variance analysis) and financial accounting (statements, invoices, financial systems).
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.

Essential requirements for the role:  

  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways that promote understanding.   Ability to motivate others through building effective relationships and gaining their full support for achieving outcomes.  Ability to advise others inside own area of work, influencing and negotiating when required.
  • Ability to absorb, understand and quickly assimilate moderately complex information and concepts and compare information from a number of different sources.  Ability to identify and assess risk  informing decision making
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure work of team/service completed within deadlines and to agreed standards.   Sets clearly defined objectives, plans activities and projects well in advance and takes account of risks and changing circumstances; identifies and organises resources and manages time effectively monitoring performance against milestones and deadlines
  • Skills to devise and implement document and record systems, including classification, retrieval and retention processes
  • Effectively manages and improves the performance of self and staff members
  • Experience of working in an advisory/visitor role with up to date knowledge of the Benefits system.
  • Experience of management accounting, being able to provide forecasts, budget comparisons and dealing with variances.
  • Experience of financial accounting, providing statements, dealing with invoices, knowledge of financial systems
  • CRB/DBS check essential
  • Current driving licence and use of a vehicle
