Your role:

This role provides a professional and welcoming first point of contact at Wigan Life Centre South, acting as the first point of contact for staff, contractors and visitors. The role manages the reception area, supports secure access, and directs all visitors to the relevant areas. Responsibilities include promoting digital first approaches, supporting evacuations, reporting issues, and helping improve reception processes. The role requires strong communication, customer service experience, basic IT skills, good organisation, and the ability to work flexibly. A friendly manner, confidentiality, and commitment to delivering a positive experience are essential.

About you:

The ideal person will be friendly, confident and professional, with strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with staff, contractors and visitors. They will have experience in customer facing or administrative roles, be competent with basic IT systems, and able to follow clear procedures while maintaining confidentiality and GDPR standards. They’ll be organised, accurate, and capable of managing tasks calmly.

A flexible, proactive approach is essential. Above all, they will provide a positive, helpful experience and consistently demonstrate the Council’s values in everyday interactions.
