Thornleigh Salesian College are looking to appoint an Assistant SENCO to support the facilitation of inclusion for all students.
As an assistant SENCO, your role will involve working with the current SENCO to support Thornleigh Salesian College, being an inclusive school for all students. The school prides itself on ensuring students from years 7 to 13 feel included in all the school offers. Your role will involve working with students to establish their needs and then supporting them to ensure any challenges are overcome so that they can achieve both their academic and personal potential. You will work alongside staff to support their classroom practices to be inclusive and help them understand students' individual needs. You will also work with parents to ensure their voices are heard and they feel supported and involved with their child's progress. This will involve regular parent contact, meetings, and the completion of statutory paperwork. The role also involves working with external agencies, both within and outside the Local Authority, such as educational psychologists, CAMHS and BSCIP.
In addition, you will help support and manage the wider inclusion team, which currently consists of experienced HLTAs and LSAs.
The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the school's inclusion agenda, ensuring that all our young people are included in all aspects of school life.

You will have:
Significant experience working with students with additional needs
Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues
Knowledge of the role of external agencies and how they support the work of school
Experience in managing other members of staff
Be working towards, or have a desire to complete the NPQ in SEND
