The governors of St Raphael’s Catholic Primary School, in partnership with the Diocese of Shrewsbury, are seeking to appoint an inspirational, supportive and innovative headteacher to inspire us in the next phase of our journey.

Located in Stalybridge, Tameside, St Raphael’s Catholic Primary School is well-known for its warm, inclusive community and strong sense of belonging. Our school prides itself on nurturing each child’s unique potential, ensuring they flourish academically, spiritually and personally in a supportive environment. With close ties to our parish and the wider community, we are committed to providing a rich and varied curriculum that inspires curiosity and lifelong learning.

Governors will encourage and support the successful applicant in delivering our shared ambitions, whilst also supporting the new headteacher in their own professional career developments.

The Governing Board are looking for a committed and practising Catholic who:

  • As a practising Catholic, demonstrates a strong faith and commitment to the Catholic ethos of the St Raphael’s school family and its community.
  • Is aspirational in approach to the quality of teaching and learning and of the achievement and well-being of every child and will inspire our children, our parents and the whole of the staff team on the next stage of our journey.
  • Be a role model who inspires and motivates others through their commitment, enthusiasm and dedication to raising standards.
  • Be an experienced leader with the interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships with staff, children, parents, parish and governors.
  • Is an engaging and hardworking individual, able to collaborate with parents, staff, governors, the parish and wider community in providing opportunities for all pupils.
  • Be a highly effective leader who can manage and organise the personnel, financial and professional needs of the school’s resources and staff.
