Hurst Knoll St. James’ CE Primary School invites you to become part of our close-knit family, where every pupil is encouraged to grow, explore, and thrive within a supportive and nurturing environment.

About Hurst Knoll St. James’ CE Primary School

We are a single-form entry Church of England primary school located in Ashton-under-Lyne, surrounded by spacious grounds that pupils love to explore. We serve a diverse community where everyone is welcomed and valued. We proudly work in partnership with St. John’s Church at Hurst Cross, sharing key moments throughout the school year.

Our school vision is inspired by the Parable of the Good Samaritan, with core values of Hope, Trust, Justice, Forgiveness, and Kindness at the heart of everything we do. We strive to nurture thoughtful pupils who understand the impact of their words and actions and who are motivated to make the world a better place.

We are currently focused on exciting school improvement priorities, including enhancing our SEND provision, embedding the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) approach, strengthening pastoral support with a new team, and reviewing our Early Years Foundation Stage. This is a fantastic time to join us as we grow and develop together.

About the Role

As a valued member of our teaching team, you will deliver high-quality, well-planned lessons aligned with our curriculum and the needs of our pupils. You will play a key role in assessing and supporting pupil progress, adapting your teaching to meet diverse needs and ensuring every child is inspired and challenged.

You will contribute positively to the whole school community by supporting our ethos, participating in extra-curricular activities, and collaborating with colleagues to create a coordinated and effective learning environment. Your commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing will be paramount as you help maintain a safe and welcoming space for all.

We are looking for a teacher who embraces professional development, participates in appraisal processes, and contributes to the growth of others. Your communication skills will be essential in building strong relationships with pupils, families, colleagues, and external partners.

About You The Ideal Candidate

You will be a qualified teacher with successful primary teaching experience and a strong understanding of the National Curriculum. You know how children learn and can adapt your teaching to meet their individual needs, especially in a diverse and inclusive setting.

You are committed to high expectations for pupil attainment and progress, and you understand the importance of behaviour management, safeguarding, and creating an emotionally supportive environment. Your good ICT skills help you to enrich learning experiences, and you are eager to collaborate professionally with others.

Above all, you share our core values and are dedicated to promoting justice, kindness, hope, trust, and forgiveness in your teaching and relationships.

What We Offer

  • A warm, supportive, and values-driven school community where every member is respected and encouraged to grow
  • Opportunities to contribute to innovative initiatives such as OPAL and Emotional Friendly Settings
