Post Title: Business Support Officer

Team: Department for Health and Adult Care

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Department for Health and Adult Care. In this role, you will work as part of a dedicated team to provide effective, highquality administrative and business support. You will contribute to excellent service delivery by undertaking a range of specialist and technical administrative duties, supporting the Integrated Hospital Discharge Team to ensure smooth, timely, and efficient discharge processes.

This role will place a strong focus on coordinating discharge referrals, including accurately entering information onto the internal system. You will act as the first point of contact to the service, ensuring calls are answered promptly and messages are passed on to the appropriate staff member or service. You will also be responsible for recording admissions and discharges to support accurate financial monitoring, while keeping all relevant systems up to date. In addition, you may be required to provide support across other areas of the wider Business Support Team when needed.

About you:

You will have exceptional organisational skills in order to work under pressure to complete tasks to potentially conflicting deadlines, without direct line management, re-prioritising your own work as appropriate.

You will be capable of resolving problems, using your own initiative to provide practical solutions.

You will be experienced in using a range of computer software and confident in learning the bespoke systems used across the service.

Excellent communication skills are essential, along with a high standard of customer service to ensure a polite, courteous, and efficient service is provided to colleagues, external partners, patients, and their families.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis. (Monday Friday, 08:45 17:00)
