The Governors and school leaders are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed SENCO to join our dedicated team and work alongside SLT. SEND and inclusion are one of the many strengths of St William’s. In this dual role, you will play a central part in shaping inclusive practice across the school. You will collaborate closely with students, families and staff to support pupils with special educational needs (SEN) to thrive both academically and personally. You will oversee the implementation of the school's SEN policy and will also be a key point of contact for external agencies. The post will involve some teaching responsibility (key stage to be agreed based on the successful candidate’s experience)

We actively welcome interest from colleagues who already hold the National SENCO award or NPQSenco, as well as from teachers who are committed to providing high quality SEND provision and inclusion. The successful candidate will play a vital role in developing the provision for our community.

The successful candidate will:

  • be highly organised, dedicated and conscientious.
  • be a highly skilled and experienced teacher with exemplary classroom practice and the skills to be able to coach and develop this within others.
  • already have experience within SEND and inclusion within their current role and an excellent understanding of SEND Code of Practice.
  • have a strong track record in identifying children’s needs and making a significant impact on the progress of all pupils.
  • have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • be able to lead, motivate and inspire others to achieve excellence.
  • be innovative, have a passion for high quality and inclusive education for all and be able to strategically lead and develop SEND across the school.
  • be fully committed to our school and our values of promoting resilience, positivity and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development and daily coordination of the school’s provision for pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and pupils to identify individual needs and implement appropriate support strategies.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with external professionals and agencies to ensure all statutory responsibilities are met.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and delivery to ensure it is inclusive, engaging and accessible to all learners.
  • Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that inspires a love of learning and nurtures intellectual curiosity.
