Elysium Training provides alternative provision for young people with significant barriers to learning, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We specialise in supporting learners with SEND, primarily those with SEMH needs, offering KS4 intervention and a post-16 curriculum.

Our programmes combine construction-based vocational pathways with Preparing for Adulthood and employability skills, delivered through a trauma-informed, relational approach.

About the Role

We are seeking a Construction Trade Tutor to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across construction multi-skills pathways.

You will teach practical skills such as joinery, bricklaying, tiling and decorating, supporting learners to develop confidence, competence and readiness for employment.

This is a hands-on role within a workshop environment, where where relationships, structure and a safe learning environment are as important as teaching trade skills

You will work with learners who may have experienced barriers to education, requiring patience, consistency and a strong relational approach.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver engaging, practical construction sessions across multi-skills pathways aligned to NOCN qualifications
  • Adapt teaching to meet SEND and SEMH needs, using EHCP-informed approaches
  • Support learners to develop employability skills, independence and confidence
  • Maintain accurate assessment records and contribute to learner progress reviews
  • Create a safe, structured and well-managed workshop environment
  • Embed health and safety and safe working practices at all times
  • Work collaboratively with the SENDCo, pastoral team and wider staff
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement

  • Have practical experience in construction trades (e.g. joinery, bricklaying, multi-skills)
  • Can engage and motivate learners through hands-on learning
  • Understand (or are willing to learn) how to support learners with SEND and SEMH
  • Builds positive, respectful and consistent relationships
  • Maintains high expectations alongside a calm, relational approach
  • Can create a safe and well-organised workshop environment
  • Is committed to safeguarding and professional conduct

A teaching qualification (e.g. Level 3 AET) is desirable, or a willingness to work towards one.
