The Headteacher, Governors and children at Thorn Grove Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and highly motivated Year 6 teacher to join our successful, friendly and inclusive school in a unique and exciting role. This is a distinctive opportunity to work within Year 6 while also supporting and mentoring a SCITT trainee teacher. The successful candidate will share responsibility for the class and play a key role in modelling high-quality teaching, supporting the development of a trainee teacher, and ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning for all pupils.
When the SCITT trainee is leading the class, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to wider school improvement priorities, supporting curriculum development, teaching and learning initiatives, and whole-school enhancement projects.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has proven experience of teaching in Year 6 with strong outcomes for pupils
• Has the ability, or readiness, to support and mentor trainee teachers or early career teachers
• Has a desire to continually learn and develop as an outstanding practitioner
• Has a caring nature with the ability to inspire a love of learning
• Has enthusiasm, drive and the ability to be highly engaging in the classroom
• Has excellent organisational and classroom management skills
• Will set high expectations and deliver high standards for all children through adaptive teaching practices
• Will be reflective, collaborative and committed to whole-school improvement
• Will consult and communicate effectively with all members of the school community
• Will maintain and promote the values and ethos of the school

Thorn Grove Primary School is a high achieving, one form entry primary school in Cheadle Hulme, recognised for its inclusive ethos and practice. It has a school nursery on site and a specialist provision for deaf pupils run by the Hearing and Vision Specialist Service.
