SEND Teaching Assistant - Level 1

Salary: £25,989 (full time full year equivalent) | Actual Salary: £19,705 per annum (Grade 2)

Hours: 32.50 per week, term time plus 1 week. (Monday to Friday 08.30am 3.30pm)

Start: 8th June 2026.

The Governors of St Herbert’s School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced, well organised and committed teaching assistant to join our hard-working SEND support staff team.

The successful candidate will:

• Have a relevant NVQ Level 1 qualification and Literacy and Numeracy skills
• Have experience of working in schools and supporting children with complex needs
• Have excellent communication skills and competent ICT skills
• Be flexible and self-motivated
• Be able to adapt and respond appropriately to challenging situations
• Excellent team player, who is positive, proactive and has the ability to reflect and improve
• Be a practising Catholic/Christian is desirable, but not essential. Candidates would need to be willing to support the school’s aims mission and religious character
