Development Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant to join the Harmony Trust Inclusion Teamsupporting pupils with complex needs to thrive in school and beyond.


You will be initially deployed to one of our Oldham Inclusion Hubs (subject to pre-employment checks). As our provision continues to grow, you may be deployed to any academy across our Northwest hub. Placements will be guided by pupil and staff need and directed by the Harmony Inclusion Team.


You will share our belief that every child belongs. In this role, you will lead an Inclusion Hub room/group, working with a group of pupils with SEND and providing a consistent, nurturing and ambitious learning environment. You will plan for, lead and/or support a specialist curriculum that meets pupils’ needs, enabling them to make strong progress towards their intended outcomes. Alongside direct work with children, you will coach and mentor colleagues to build confidence and capability in inclusive practice, including effective strategies and curriculum adaptations. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting children with complex SEND needs in an educational setting, as a Teaching Assistant or in an equivalent role.

  • Specialist training and/or experience in a key area of SEND, such as: social, emotional and mental health; communication and interaction; cognition and learning; sensory and/or physical needs.

  • Experience of working with primary-aged pupils.

  • The ability to identify, implement and review appropriate interventions so pupils can meet their EHC plan outcomes and/or personal targets.

  • Confidence in coaching, modelling practice and supporting the development of staff.

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to keeping children safe.

  • A collaborative approach, working in partnership with teaching staff, other professionals, and external agencies/voluntary and service providers.

  • The ability to lead a hub/room provision, working directly with a group of pupils with SEND, and to plan for and deliver/support a curriculum that meets a range of needs.
