We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Teacher of Hair and Beauty to join our fantastic team at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA)

This is a permanent, full-time position on Teaching terms MPS–UPS plus TLR 2.1 allowance of £3,527, starting September 2026.

Main purpose of the job:

In addition to the professional responsibilities common to all classroom teachers, the Lead Teacher of Hair and Beauty will play a key role in raising standards of teaching, learning and student achievement across the curriculum.

Working closely with the Curriculum Leader, you will:

  • Support the development and implementation of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Lead on intervention strategies to improve attainment and progress
  • Monitor curriculum delivery, planning and student outcomes
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Ensure high standards of assessment, recording and reporting

You will also deputise for the Curriculum Leader where required and take responsibility for agreed areas of departmental leadership.

Leadership and curriculum responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Support and lead colleagues to enhance teaching practice and student outcomes
  • Contribute to lesson observations, coaching and mentoring
  • Help identify and deliver high-quality CPD and professional development
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture
  • Support the strategic development of the curriculum
  • Contribute to school improvement priorities and self-evaluation

We’re looking for:
 
  • You will be a qualified teacher with successful experience delivering Hair & Beauty for City & Guilds pathway and teaching within Key Stage 4.
  • You will have excellent subject knowledge in Hair and Beauty and a clear understanding of the City & Guilds qualification and current curriculum developments.
  • You will be a confident and effective communicator with the ability to build strong professional relationships. With a passion for education, you will be committed to raising achievement and inspiring a love of learning in all students.
  • You will also be enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of the school, including enrichment and extracurricular activities.
 

As a motivated and collaborative practitioner, you will demonstrate:

  • A proven ability to secure positive outcomes for students
  • The ability to lead, support and develop colleagues
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
