SEND UNIT LEAD TEACHER

Teachers’ Pay Range: Main Pay Scale/UPS + TLR 1st September 2026

The Vacancy The Trustees and Head Teacher of the school wish to appoint an exceptional and compassionate teacher leader to become Head of The Haven, our 16-place SEND Unit, and to shape and drive its next phase of development. This is a unique opportunity to lead a specialist provision within a mainstream primary school, ensuring outstanding outcomes for pupils with profound and complex needs.

About our school

Lever Edge Primary Academy is a large two form entry primary school, with two nurseries a sports hall, a SEND unit and a forest school.

The Person required for the post

The post is suitable for a teacher who:

- Has strong experience working with children with profound and complex needs

- Brings the credibility, organisation and warmth to lead a specialist team.

- Has knowledge/understanding (and ideally experience) of the EHCP process, including annual reviews and writing robust support plans.

The role will involve

- Strategic leadership and day-to-day management of The Haven, including provision design, routines, staffing and development planning.

- Oversight of EHCPs, including annual reviews, support planning, and ensuring provision matches pupils’ needs and outcomes.

- Working closely with visiting professionals and external agencies to coordinate multi-agency support.

- Close collaboration with the mainstream school SENCo to ensure strong inclusion pathways and consistent practice across settings.
