St Mark’s Church of England Primary School is seeking to appoint an inspirational, dedicated Nursery Manager to join our thriving school community and play a pivotal role in shaping outstanding early years provision. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a nurturing, high-quality setting that supports children to flourish, learn, and grow in a safe and stimulating environment.

Job purpose:

To play an active role in the strategic planning of the school as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and to strategically manage and coordinate the setting in the absence of the Headteacher. The successful candidate will lead and manage high-quality childcare provision for children in line with current legislation, including the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.

About the Role

The Nursery Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the childcare setting, ensuring full compliance with the EYFS Framework and all relevant legislation. They will lead on the effective implementation of the EYFS, maintaining high standards across the seven areas of learning and development, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding and welfare requirements. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will ensure that all policies and proceduresincluding safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour, and inclusionremain up to date and compliant with statutory and local authority guidance. The role also requires building strong partnerships with parents/carers, Ofsted, and external agencies to support continuous improvement and high-quality provision, while ensuring the delivery of programmes linked to local and national early years strategies.

In addition, the Nursery Manager will:

  • Lead the development of innovative initiatives to enhance outcomes for children and enrich the setting.
  • Develop and implement effective marketing strategies to raise the profile of the nursery within the local community.
  • Analyse and evaluate data to inform planning and improvement, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legislation and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and well-organised learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A relevant Level 4 qualification (or above) in Early Years Education or Childcare.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of implementing the EYFS Framework, including observation, assessment, and planning cycles.
  • A secure understanding of safeguarding, child protection procedures, and statutory welfare requirements.
  • Proven leadership and management experience within an early year setting.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a team.
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting all children to achieve their full potential.
