The Governors of Wood Fold Primary School are looking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Lead SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support to teaching staff and pupils, and to oversee access to learning and support programmes. The job will involve undertaking work / care / support programmes to support learning for SEN pupils providing particular help for those pupils with moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and / or behavioural, social, communication, sensory or physical disabilities.

We are looking to appoint someone who is able to:

  • be highly motivated with a strong knowledge and enthusiasm for SEND;
  • be committed to delivering inspiring and engaging learning experiences by producing lessons plans and resources that enable every child to flourish and reach their full potential.
  • work with pupils on therapy or care programmes that are designed by a therapist / care assistant.
  • attend to pupil’s personal needs including toileting, hygiene, dressing, eating and providing minor medical support.
  • have high expectations of all children both in the classroom and around school including lunchtimes.
  • supervise and provide support for all children ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • work under the instruction/guidance of teaching staff to undertake work / care / support.
  • programmes / plans to enable access to learning.
  • work closely with the SENCo, class teacher(s) and outside agencies to enable the child / children to access a personalised and relevant curriculum, maximising their learning and development.
  • communicate feedback to the Senior Leadership Team and class teachers regarding pupils’ progress.
  • work as part of a team to ensure high quality provision and care.

Flexibility is essential as our Learning Support Assistants move around to suit the needs of the children, working with groups of children, individual children and providing whole class support as necessary.

This position is available at salary grade G6 x 30 hours per week Monday Friday: 8.45 am to 3.15 pm, term-time only plus 3 INSET days, wef 1 September 2026.
