Blackpool has a huge regeneration programme and a great opportunity to be at the heart of Blackpool’s plans is now open to a talented, proactive and results driven Geographic Information System (GIS) Officer, with a keen eye for detail to help us to continue on this exciting journey.

Government are focusing greater importance on the requirements of digital planning and are demanding Councils adopt more modern planning practices within planning data, digital capabilities and development management software. With this in mind we are seeking an additional team member who can support:-

 ·  The management, development, upgrade and enhancement of the Council’s corporate desktop GIS (GGP, ArcGIS Pro) and web GIS (ArcGIS Online) systems.

·  The management of key spatial datasets and the corporate spatial data warehouse to ensure high data quality and metadata standards are adhered to.

· The integration of GIS with other service area software and the development of Council wide uses of spatial data.

 You will be an integral part of the Growth & Prosperity team at Blackpool Council but working with departments across the authority. You will have the opportunity to become involved with many of the Growth and Prosperity Team’s unique regeneration projects such as at the Enterprise Zone and Silicon Sands.

As a candidate, you will be able to demonstrate considerable practical knowledge in the use and management of the specialist ArcGIS Pro (desktop GIS) software and the ArcGIS Online (web GIS) portal. You can demonstrate knowledge in the development of web GIS solutions using the ArcGIS Online platform including the production of Web Maps, Instant Apps, Web Experience Apps, Field Maps, StoryMaps and Dashboards. Finally, you should be able to demonstrate considerable theoretical and practical knowledge of the principles of data management, metadata management, data validation, data quality and data cleansing.
