About the Role

Blackpool Council is seeking a skilled, experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our Request for Support Hub (formerly known as the MASH), the front door to Children’s Social Care. This is a fast-paced, multi-agency environment where timely and well-evidenced safeguarding decisions ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time.

As a Social Worker in the RFSH, you will use your professional judgement, analytical skills and understanding of thresholds to assess information, identify risk, and determine the most appropriate intervention. You will work closely with partner agencies to promote effective information sharing and ensure decisions are proportionate and in line with statutory guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and assess incoming referrals, gathering and analysing multi-agency information.
  • Make timely, evidence-based decisions regarding risk and thresholds.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to build a clear picture of need.
  • Ensure children and families receive the right help at the earliest opportunity.
  • Maintain high standards of recording, analysis and professional curiosity.
  • Contribute to team discussions, reflective practice and learning activities.

About You

Essential:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience in safeguarding, assessment or front-door/triage services.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and weigh multi-agency information.
  • Confident decision-maker able to assess risk effectively.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality practice and continuous professional development.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a MASH or similar front-door environment.
  • Driving licence
