Leigh Central Primary School is a welcoming and diverse one-form entry primary school in the middle of Leigh town centre. The children and their families are very important to us and are central to all we do. The Governors are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, dedicated and effective Higher Level Teaching Assistant who will work across Key Stage 1 and Reception covering PPA and Leadership time. On occasion you will also be required to cover a class in Reception or KS1 in the absence of a teacher.

The successful applicant will work from Reception to Year 2 and will support teachers in planning, delivery and assessment of lessons. You will also be required to support teaching staff on yard duty.

  • be an effective communicator with all members of the school community;
  • have experience of working within the Early Years and Key Stage 1;
  • be flexible in their approach, open to new ideas and a team player who is keen to contribute to our Infant team;
  • demonstrate through their practice, and in line with the HLTA standards, their professional knowledge and understanding; professional skills including planning and expectations; monitoring and assessment; teaching and learning

The interview process will consist of a teaching observation followed by an interview with two members of the senior leadership team and an unseen task.

All candidates will be required to demonstrate their ability to meet and maintain all Professional Standards for Teachers.
