ASSISTANT SENCO
Scale 6, Point 18: £31,537 pro rata
Working hours : 36.25 per week
Permanent Term Time
Start Date: ASAP

Egerton High School is seeking to appoint an outstanding, motivated and experienced Assistant SENCO who is passionate about improving the life chances of young people who have been excluded from mainstream secondary education.

Egerton High School is a specialist provision for pupils aged 1119 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our pupils are often vulnerable and present with complex needs. We are proud to provide a nurturing, inclusive and structured environment where every young person is supported to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed and supportive team and play a key role in strengthening our SEND provision. Working closely with the SENCO, you will support the coordination and delivery of high-quality provision for pupils with SEND. The role involves working collaboratively with staff, families, the Local Authority and a range of external agencies to ensure that pupils receive the support they need to succeed. You will contribute to the smooth transition of pupils into and through the school, support the admissions process, and play an active role in reviewing and monitoring pupil progress through statutory processes such as Education, Health and Care Plan reviews and multi-agency meetings.

The role requires a high level of organisation, strong communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive information professionally. You will support the development of systems, maintain accurate records, and contribute to whole-school approaches that promote engagement, inclusion and positive outcomes. You will have experience of working with young people with special educational needs, particularly those with complex or SEMH needs, and a clear understanding of the importance of multi-agency working. You will be a confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and professionals, and demonstrate a calm, solution-focused approach. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and confidence in using school-based systems are essential, alongside a commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Egerton High School offers a welcoming, supportive and highly committed staff team where collaboration and wellbeing are prioritised. You will have access to meaningful professional development opportunities and the chance to progress your career within a growing and ambitious provision. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference to the lives of young people, working within a school community built on respect, inclusion and strong relationships.

Egerton High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
