Pikes Lane Primary School is seeking to appoint a passionate, skilled and ambitious EYFS practitioner to join our committed Early Years team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our EYFS provision at a key stage in the school’s improvement journey.

We are looking for a practitioner who understands the importance of securing strong foundations for future learning and who is committed to ensuring every child thrives academically, socially and emotionally.

The successful applicant will:

  • engage and inspire pupils, securing the characteristics of effective learning
  • demonstrate a deep understanding of effective pedagogy and foundational knowledge across the EYFS curriculum
  • understand the importance of a communication-rich environment which develops vocabulary, oracy and language acquisition
  • use assessment effectively to identify misconceptions and gaps in learning so that children build secure foundations over time
  • have a strong understanding of child development, including early writing, fine motor development and letter formation
  • maintain high expectations for Early Reading and Phonics through consistent and effective practice
  • create high-quality learning environments across all areas of learning, indoors and outdoors
  • think innovatively, embrace change positively and work collaboratively as part of an effective team
  • model excellent EYFS practice that has a clear impact on outcomes for children
  • demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to the changing needs and priorities of the school
  • be ambitious for all pupils and committed to following agreed school policies and procedures

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

  • understand the importance of curriculum sequencing and building knowledge progressively across the EYFS
  • are skilled in using assessment to inform teaching and provision
  • value consistency in teaching approaches and routines
  • are reflective practitioners committed to continual improvement
  • are passionate about ensuring children develop the language, knowledge and skills needed for future success
