Mersey Drive Community Primary School is a nurturing, ambitious and highly inclusive mainstream primary school, with additional resource provision for pupils with a diagnosis of Autism.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional, passionate and highly motivated SENCo who can lead both strategically and operationally across our school.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to securing the very best outcomes for children through both the strategic leadership of SEND and the delivery of the highest quality education, support and care.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role helping drive our inclusive vision forward.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

Provide strategic leadership of SEND and inclusion across the school

Champion a culture of high expectations and equity for all pupils

Lead the identification of barriers to learning and coordinate effective provision

Support staff to deliver high-quality adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practice

Ensure pupils with SEND and vulnerable learners are supported to achieve, belong and thrive within school life

Work collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals to secure ambitious outcomes

Oversee EHCP processes, annual reviews, provision mapping and graduated approaches

Analyse attendance, behaviour, pastoral and attainment information to evaluate impact and identify priorities

Contribute to whole-school improvement and self-evaluation linked to the new Ofsted inclusion framework

Model excellent inclusive classroom practice through teaching responsibilities within the role

Support staff development and coaching to strengthen inclusive practice across the curriculum

Promote positive relationships, emotional wellbeing and a sense of belonging for all pupils

The role includes teaching responsibility and would suit someone who values remaining

closely connected to classroom practice and understands the importance of modelling

high-quality inclusive teaching.

We are looking for someone who:

Is an excellent classroom practitioner with consistently high expectations

Has a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education

Is passionate about improving outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils

Understands the importance of high-quality inclusive teaching as the foundation of effective SEND provision

Can lead, inspire and support colleagues effectively

Builds strong relationships with pupils, families and external agencies

Is organised, reflective, resilient and solution-focused

Understands the importance of safeguarding, attendance, wellbeing and belonging

within inclusion

Has experience of working with pupils with a range of SEND needs

Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (or is willing to work towards it)
