Trainer/Assessor - Residential Childcare & Early Years Reference: | Closing Date: 15/06/2026 | Interview Date: 19/06/2026 Salary: £32,994 - £37,006 (pro rata salary £32,994 - £30,838) per annum. Incremental progression throughout the band is available. Contract Type: Permanent | Hours per Week: 30 | Location: Frontier House, Merchants Quay, Salford, M50 3SR Apprenticeships at Salford City College are an award-winning College provider of apprenticeships in the North West, supporting around 1,500 apprentices and over 500 employers. Salford City College have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed trainer/assessor to join our dynamic apprenticeship delivery team. This permanent position is ideally suited to someone with a residential childcare background. As part of the health and social care and children’s services delivery team, you will work closely with colleagues, employers and apprentices to ensure that apprentices have an outstanding learning experience, successfully achieve their apprenticeship journey and advance within their chosen career. The responsibilities of the job include: meeting with stakeholders (both virtually and in-person), providing relevant information and guidance on the apprenticeship journey, supporting apprentices to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours, undertaking site-based assessments, reviewing progress with employers and apprentices, supporting learners to progress through their apprenticeship and develop essential knowledge skills and behaviours. The assessor will be expected to maintaining accurate records, identifying new apprenticeship opportunities, delivering short training courses and helping the team to reach and exceed ambitious targets. The ideal candidate for this role will have relevant industry experience and qualifications, experience of supporting apprentices undertaking residential childcare and early years apprenticeships, strong communication and customer service skills, and will ideally hold an assessor qualification. A teaching, training or IQA qualification and knowledge of e-portfolio systems would also be beneficial.
