SENCO TLRP2b

Required for January 2027 or sooner if possible.

Following the promotion of our current SENCO, we are seeking to appoint a new SENCO to continue our excellent SEND provision and to further develop our Pupil Premium provision. Hollins Grundy is a small one form entry primary school; our last Ofsted report in March 2023 commented that:

“Leaders identify pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) quickly. The careful attention that leaders pay to meeting the needs of pupils with SEND helps to make certain that pupils fully engage in learning and achieve well across the curriculum.”

The person appointed will have a class responsibility and will be part of the senior leadership team, playing an important part in leading and developing the school.

We are seeking someone who will:

Deliver outstanding teaching and learning and possess the drive and passion to continue to take the school forward.
Have a commitment to the highest expectations of individual achievement, standards and behaviour.
Have a proven track record of supporting progress for pupils with SEND.
Be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with staff, pupils, parents and governors.
Be able to coach, mentor and support school staff within their team.
Contribute to all aspects of the school and have a positive impact on whole school development.
If newly appointed to a SENCO role be prepared to take the National Qualification for SENCOs

We offer you:

A professional learning environment with opportunities for gaining experience and training which will support not only your present role, but which will also equip you for further promotion in the future.
A committed and highly effective staff team.
Wonderful children who will engage enthusiastically with the learning opportunities you provide for them.
A supportive community of parents, governors and friends of the school.

Employees of the school have a responsibility for, and must be committed to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and for ensuring that they are protected from harm.

Visits to the school are encouraged, please call Mr Thomas-Stanley at school on 0161 796 0476 to arrange.

Closing Date: 12 noon, 23rd September 2026

Teaching observations will take place between 05/10/2026 and 08/10/2026.

Interviews will be held on 15/10/2026.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory disclosure at the appropriate level under the Disclosure and Barring Service.

In line with safer recruitment, please ensure that your application covers your full employment history and there is a reason noted for any gaps in employment. Successful candidates will be asked to provide relevant references for the past ten years and character references will not be accepted.
