The Governing Board, staff and children of St. Marie’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, friendly and approachable School Administration Assistant to work as part of a highly motivated team and who must be supportive of our Catholic ethos.

22.5 hours per week, Monday Friday, 8:30am 1:00pm, term time only.

We are an outstanding, small, friendly school with a big heart and warm family environment situated in the heart of the Standish community.

You will play a key role in the smooth and efficient running of the school office; building good relationships with pupils, parents, staff, Governors and outside agencies. As the first point of contact for parents, carers and visitors to the school, you must be welcoming, personable, helpful and able to represent the school in a professional and friendly manner.

The school office is an extremely busy and fast-paced environment, therefore you must have the ability to self-manage, prioritise and multi-task whilst remaining calm, committed, friendly and approachable with a good sense of humour.

Excellent IT skills and the ability to use a variety of software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher is essential.

You will:

  • Maintain, as part of a team, the school office to provide an efficient and effective service.
  • Build professional relationships with parents/carers through effective communication skills, answering telephone calls/emails and resolving queries.
  • Adhere to the school’s GDPR practices and policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date pupil records.
  • Arrange reactive work required on site as instructed by the caretaker and/or other school staff.
  • Manage stock and stationery ordering.
  • Assist the Headteacher/SLT with scheduling of meetings and training events.
  • Assist with financial duties as required, including collection and banking of monies where required.
  • Undertake general reception/administration duties and financial tasks, including school meals.
  • Undertake communication with parents via school messaging service.
  • Always ensure the safety of pupils by having a clear understanding of and the ability to follow, safeguarding measures and procedures.
  • Assist with pupil first aid, as necessary, and liaise with parents/carers and staff.
  • All other tasks required to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the school and office.
