Alder Brook is a specialist setting supporting primary pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are a growing school, currently offering 94 pupil places across two sites.

The Department for Education has introduced a new initiative, providing additional funding to local authorities to strengthen SEND support within mainstream schools. This initiative, “Experts at Hand”, enables professionals from specialist settings, such as Alder Brook, to extend their expertise into mainstream environments.

As part of this exciting development, Alder Brook is seeking to appoint a teacher to support delivery of this innovative initiative.

In addition to the core responsibilities of teaching, assessment and curriculum delivery, this role will involve:

  • Working across mainstream settings to support pupils, including those attending Alder Brook on short-term placements
  • Teaching and supporting pupils during their placement, and contributing to their transition back into mainstream school
  • Providing guidance, modelling practice, and sharing effective strategies with mainstream colleagues to support reintegration
  • Delivering high-quality teaching within Alder Brook, enabling colleagues from the specialist setting to work in mainstream schools as part of the Experts at Hand offer
  • Contributing to the development of inclusive practice across Salford primary schools

About You

Applicants must:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience working with pupils with SEND in either a mainstream or specialist setting particularly children with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs.
