Teaching Assistant Level 3 / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (TA4) Salary: Grade TA3 Grade E scp 11-17, TA4 Grade F 17-23 Actual Salary: TA3 £13,514 - £14,897 per annum, TA4 £7,887 - £8,754 per annum Hours: TA3: 21.25 TA4: 11.25 Start Date: 1st September 2026 Contract: Permanent 37 hrs per week? The Governors of this popular school are seeking to appoint a dedicated, enthusiastic and highly motivated Teaching Assistant Level 3 / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (TA4) to join our school family. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing. The successful candidate will undertake responsibilities associated with both a Teaching Assistant Level 3 and a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (TA4) role. Whilst these are separate positions, we would ideally like one person to fulfil both roles. We are looking for someone who: Has experience of working with primary-aged children and supporting high-quality teaching and learning Has experience of delivering learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes Has the confidence, knowledge and skills to lead learning and provide whole-class cover when required Demonstrates a secure understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly English and Mathematics Can use effective questioning and feedback to promote progress, independence and a love of learning Has high expectations of achievement, behaviour and personal development for all pupils Can support pupils with a range of needs, including SEND, adapting support appropriately Is patient, nurturing, resilient and committed to helping every child achieve their full potential Can monitor, assess and record pupil progress, providing valuable feedback to teachers Builds positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff and the wider school community Is organised, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team whilst also using their own initiative Supports and promotes the Catholic ethos and values of our school Key responsibilities will include: Supporting teaching and learning across the school through targeted intervention, classroom support and planned learning activities Working with individuals, groups and whole classes to enhance pupil achievement and progress Delivering planned lessons and learning activities under the direction of teaching staff Providing high-quality class cover and leading learning when teachers are absent or released for leadership, management or professional development activities Supporting pupils with additional needs and ensuring all children can access learning successfully Promoting positive behaviour, inclusion and pupil wellbeing Monitoring and recording pupil progress and contributing to assessment processes Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support high-quality outcomes for pupils Contributing to the wider life of the school and supporting school events and activities where appropriate We are able to offer: Wonderful children who are kind, hardworking, well behaved and have a love of learning An extremely supportive leadership and staff team who often go above and beyond Very supportive parents and governors A commitment to high-quality professional development and career progression opportunities A happy, friendly and supportive community with a strong Catholic ethos The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of our children and families Closing Date: 3rd July 2026 Shortlisting: 3rd July 2026 Interviews: Week commencing 6th July Please return completed applications to recruitment@st-bernards.bolton.sch.uk, marked for the attention of Mrs Taylor.
