Blackpool is a town on the move, with ambitious plans to regenerate its housing, economy, and public spaces. We are investing in a brighter future for everyone who lives, works, and visits Blackpool. From multi-million-pound town centre developments and the creation of a new Multiversity, to the regeneration of residential neighborhoods and the development of a high-technology business hub within the Blackpool Enterprise Zone, our vision is bold, progressive, and people-focused.

A key part of this vision is raising standards in the private rented sector. Selective Licensing plays a vital role in delivering this transformation—ensuring residents live in safe, well-managed homes, holding landlords accountable, and driving up standards across our communities.

Blackpool Council is seeking an experienced Selective Licensing Team Leader to join our Public Protection Team. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact, improving housing conditions, supporting vulnerable tenants, and contributing to the regeneration of our communities.

You will play a key role in delivering one of the largest Selective Licensing schemes in the area, covering eight wards in Inner Blackpool. As a Team Leader, you will:

  • Support and lead the delivery of the Selective Licensing programme
  • Promote compliance and raise standards within the private rented sector
  • Use enforcement powers to tackle poor housing conditions and irresponsible landlords
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders
  • Contribute to improving outcomes for residents and communities

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong knowledge and experience of the Housing Act 2004, Selective Licensing, and associated enforcement powers
  • Demonstrates leadership and effective team working skills
  • Is passionate about improving housing standards and making a real difference
  • Has experience in housing enforcement, environmental health, or a related field
  • Can work confidently in a challenging but rewarding environment

This is your chance to be part of a high-profile, transformational programme that is shaping the future of Blackpool. You will play a crucial role in improving lives, strengthening communities, and delivering meaningful change.
