About this Role

Every day in school matters and this role plays a key part in making sure our students are here, engaged and able to make the most of their education.

We are looking for an organised, confident and people-focused Attendance Administrator to join our attendance and pastoral team. You’ll be someone who enjoys a busy and varied working day, can build positive relationships with students and families, and isn’t afraid to pick up the phone, ask questions and help find solutions.

No two days will be quite the same. One minute you might be following up an unexplained absence, the next speaking with a parent, tracking down a missing attendance mark, preparing information for colleagues or supporting a family to overcome barriers to getting their child into school.

About the role

You will:

  • Be part of the daily drive to improve attendance and punctuality across the school
  • Contact parents and carers to follow up absences and help resolve attendance concerns
  • Build positive relationships with students and families, encouraging engagement with school
  • Keep a close eye on attendance information, spotting gaps and making sure concerns are followed up
  • Help ensure we know where our students are throughout the school day
  • Work alongside our attendance and pastoral teams to support students whose attendance is becoming a concern
  • Undertake home visits where needed to engage with families and offer support
  • Keep accurate records and make sure important information reaches the right people
  • Produce letters, reports and attendance information to support interventions and decision-making
  • Work with colleagues and external agencies to help students overcome barriers to attending school

What We Are Looking For

You don’t need to be an attendance expert on day one. We’re looking for someone with the right combination of organisation, confidence and people skills.

You will:

  • Be highly organised and able to keep on top of a busy and changing workload
  • Be confident communicating with students, parents, carers and colleagues
  • Be comfortable having conversations that can sometimes be challenging
  • Have excellent attention to detail and understand why accurate information matters
  • Be able to stay calm, professional and solution-focused when things don’t go to plan
  • Be confident using IT systems and working with records and data
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding
  • Be positive, resilient and willing to get stuck in as part of a busy team
  • Have GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above

Experience in administration, customer service, education, attendance or pastoral support would be useful, but just as important is your ability to connect with people, stay organised and approach challenges with persistence and professionalism.
