The Headteacher and Governors at Willow Grove Primary School are seeking to appoint a committed, compassionate, and highly organised Pastoral Support Officer to join our dedicated team and play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development of our students.

At Willow Grove Primary School, we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential. Our specialist school caters to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Willow Grove Primary School has adopted strong attachment and trauma-informed practices (ATP) as the basis for working with its pupils and we are looking to further develop our team with staff who have knowledge in this area.

Previous experience is advantageous but not necessary.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will support the Pastoral Care Lead to manage the pastoral care provision within the school, working closely with students, families, staff, and external agencies to ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and able to thrive both personally and academically.

Personal Qualities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven track record of supporting the pastoral care function in a school. Applications from mainstream colleagues are welcomed and encouraged
  • a drive and enthusiasm for the profession
  • Ability to work confidentially and sensitively with others to build effective working relationships
  • High-quality people skills to deal with challenging situations
  • Ability to use initiative to respond to and resolve challenges
  • A knowledge of trauma-informed practice
  • Previous experience of working in line with legislation such as KCSIE, Working together to Safeguard Children, Early Help legislation
  • shares the values of Willow Grove Primary School Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Positive
  • Full UK driving license would be advantageous
