We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Adult Social Care Business Support Service on a 9-month secondment to cover a period of maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their leadership, operational, and service improvement skills within a busy and rewarding Adult Social Care environment.

As a Senior Business Support Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of high-quality business support services. You will support managers and teams across Business Support (covering duties with Social Care Purchasing, Social Care Benefits Team, Business Support Finance, Quality Assurance and Direct Payments. You will help to maintain effective administrative processes, achieve performance targets, and deliver excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and support to Business Support staff.
  • Coordinate and monitor workloads to ensure service priorities and deadlines are met.
  • Support the delivery of efficient administrative processes across Adult Social Care.
  • Identify opportunities for service improvement and contribute to the implementation of new ways of working.
  • Produce and analyse performance information, reports, and management data.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and data protection requirements.
  • Act as a key point of contact for colleagues, managers, and partner organisations.
  • Support recruitment, induction, training, and development activities within the team.
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives that support service delivery and organisational objectives.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has substantial experience of working within a business support or administrative environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Has experience of supervising, mentoring, or coordinating staff and workloads.
  • Is confident using a range of IT systems and producing accurate reports and management information.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can work proactively, manage competing demands, and support change effectively.
  • Has a strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Ideally has experience of working within Adult Social Care, local government, or a similar public sector setting.
