Marsh Green Community Primary School is seeking a caring, organised and highly committed Pastoral Support to join our team. This is a key role in our inclusion and pastoral provision, supporting children and families to overcome barriers to attendance, wellbeing, safety and learning.

Marsh Green is a nurturing and inclusive community primary school in Wigan. Children join us from age two, and we are proud of our strong nurturing ethos, our work with families and our commitment to ensuring that everyone feels valued, safe and able to aspire to be the best they can be.

The role

The successful candidate will have a broad pastoral remit, with four key areas of responsibility:

• Safeguarding - acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and supporting strong safeguarding practice across school.
• Attendance - monitoring attendance and punctuality, working directly with pupils and families, and coordinating timely support and intervention.
• EAL - supporting pupils and families where English is an Additional Language and helping to ensure an inclusive, welcoming experience.
• Medical needs - coordinating key information and support for pupils with medical needs, including Individual Healthcare Plans and liaison with families and professionals.
• Alongside these responsibilities, the postholder will provide wider pastoral and family support, mentor pupils, work with external agencies and contribute to whole-school inclusion and wellbeing.

• has a strong understanding of safeguarding and the needs of vulnerable pupils;
• is confident in having sensitive and sometimes challenging conversations;
• is highly organised and able to maintain accurate, confidential records;
• can work effectively with school staff, families, the local authority and external agencies;
• is proactive, solution-focused and committed to inclusion and high expectations for every child.
